Zonulin Test
Zonulin Serum – Product Description
Zonulin is a key regulator of intestinal permeability, responsible for opening and closing the tight junctions between gut epithelial cells.
When Zonulin levels become elevated, the intestinal barrier can loosen, commonly referred to as “leaky gut.”
This increased permeability may allow larger food particles, toxins and microbes to cross into the bloodstream, triggering immune activation, inflammation and contributing to a range of gastrointestinal or autoimmune symptoms.
This blood test provides a targeted assessment of Zonulin levels, helping to evaluate the integrity of the gut barrier and guide strategies to support digestive and immune health.
Sample Type:
BLOOD (VENOUS) — requires a private phlebotomist; blood draw not included in the test price
Tested Biomarkers:
• Zonulin
When should you consider this test?
Consider a Zonulin Serum test if you suspect increased intestinal permeability (“leaky gut”).
This test is particularly useful when addressing coeliac disease, food sensitivities, chronic inflammation, autoimmune conditions, IBS-type symptoms, skin issues or unexplained fatigue.
It helps to identify whether impaired gut barrier function may be contributing to systemic inflammation or immune dysregulation.
