H.Pylori Test
Helicobacter pylori (H.Pylori) is a bacterium that lives in the stomach lining and is a common cause of silent, chronic infections that can lead to gastritis, ulcers and long-standing digestive symptoms.
This stool antigen test detects current, active H. pylori infection by identifying the presence of bacterial proteins directly in the sample. It is one of the most reliable, non-invasive methods for diagnosing infection and for monitoring eradication after treatment.
How the test works
This test uses an enzyme immunoassay (EIA) technique, which identifies H. pylori antigens by binding them to highly specific antibodies. When the antigen–antibody complex forms, a measurable colour change is produced, confirming the presence of active infection.
When should you consider this test?
Consider the H. pylori stool antigen test if you experience:
- Ongoing upper abdominal pain or discomfort
- Bloating, nausea, reflux, or indigestion
- A history of gastritis or peptic ulcer disease
- Symptoms that worsen after eating
- Past H. pylori infection and need to confirm successful treatment
It is particularly helpful for uncovering underlying causes of long-term digestive issues and guiding targeted treatment.
