The Erythrocyte Fatty Acid Analysis is a venous blood test that measures seventeen key fatty acids within red blood cell membranes.

Essential fatty acids help regulate inflammation, immune function, cell signalling and brain health, while non-essential fatty acids support energy production and overall cell balance.

By assessing these levels, the test highlights deficiencies and imbalances that may be influencing inflammation, cardiovascular health, neurological function or general well-being.

A venous blood draw is required, and this is not included in the price. You will need to arrange your own private phlebotomist to collect the sample.

Please note: this is a results-only service. Your test report will be provided for your own review, and no consultation or personalised interpretation is included.

When is this test useful?

This analysis can be helpful when investigating inflammation, cardiovascular risk, metabolic imbalance, or neurological symptoms. It may be considered for individuals with ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, seizure disorders, cardiovascular concerns, inflammatory symptoms or for anyone wanting a clearer understanding of how their fatty acid profile is affecting their overall health.

Preparation Instructions

Fasting for a blood test:

For the most accurate results, please fast for 8 hours before your blood draw. Morning appointments after an overnight fast are recommended.

Stay well hydrated:

Drink 2–3 litres of plain water the day before and at least 500ml 1–2 hours before your appointment. Good hydration helps improve the quality of your sample and makes the venous draw easier.
