DUTCH Cycle Mapping + Complete

DUTCH Cycle Mapping + Complete offers the most in-depth hormonal assessment available for cycling women.

This test maps oestrogen and progesterone patterns across the entire menstrual cycle, alongside a full DUTCH Complete hormone panel that evaluates adrenal function, sex hormones, metabolites, melatonin, oxidative stress and nine organic acid markers.

Using multiple dried urine samples collected across the cycle, it provides a detailed month-long picture of how hormones rise and fall throughout the follicular, ovulatory and luteal phases.

This includes identifying ovulation patterns, weak or absent progesterone rises, oestrogen surges and luteal phase defects.

This combined assessment helps uncover the root causes of:

• PMS, PMDD, spotting, migraines

• Fertility challenges and irregular cycles

• Suspected anovulation or weak luteal phases

• PCOS patterns

• Chronic fatigue, stress, and adrenal dysregulation

• Oestrogen-dominant symptoms (heavy periods, breast tenderness, mood swings)

• Detoxification issues affecting hormone clearance

Sample type: DRIED URINE

Biomarkers tested: 46

What this test measures

In addition to Cycle Mapping (estradiol, estrone, α- & β-pregnanediol), this combined panel includes:

  • Adrenal hormones & metabolites: free cortisol (daily pattern), free cortisone, metabolised cortisol, THF + THE
  • Sex hormones: testosterone, DHEA, DHEA-S, androsterone, epi-testosterone, DHT, and related metabolites
  • Oestrogen metabolites: 2-OH, 4-OH, 16-OH pathways, methylation activity
  • Progesterone metabolites: α- and β-pregnanediol
  • Melatonin
  • Oxidative stress marker: 8-OHdG
  • Organic acids: including MMA, kynurenate, quinolinate, pyroglutamate, β-hydroxyisovalerate, HVA, VMA, and indican
  • Neurotransmitter-related metabolites

When should you consider this test?

Choose DUTCH Cycle Mapping + Complete if you want the fullest possible picture of menstrual and adrenal hormone function, particularly in cases of:

  • Infertility or suspected ovulatory disorders
  • Irregular or unpredictable cycles
  • PCOS or anovulatory cycles
  • Severe PMS, PMDD, mood changes, or mid-cycle symptoms
  • Heavy periods, spotting, or short luteal phases
  • Hormone-related migraines
  • Chronic stress and fatigue
  • Difficulty tolerating hormonal contraception or HRT
  • Situations where pinpointing exactly where hormonal disruption occurs within the cycle is essential

Not suitable for:

  • Postmenopausal individuals
  • Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Those on hormonal contraception or IUDs that suppress ovulation
  • Those on HRT
  • Anyone with no measurable cycle (unless assessing partial cycling after hysterectomy, where Mapping may still be useful)
  • Anyone currently using DHEA, progesterone, pregnenolone, or testosterone supplements without the ability to pause them for the required washout period — these will directly distort hormone levels.
  • Those who cannot collect dried urine samples at the required times (e.g., shift work, caring responsibilities or unpredictable sleep patterns that prevent proper timing).
  • Those who have severe kidney dysfunction — urine metabolite measurements may be inaccurate due to impaired filtration and creatinine correction.
