Vitamin B12 injections
Symptoms of low B12
If you are low in vitamin B12, you are likely to feel exhausted. You may suffer with muscular aches and pains and breathlessness, particularly when climbing the stairs or walking up an incline. You may have brain fog, memory problems or poor decision making. Low vitamin B12 also causes mood imbalances and you may feel depressed or anxious. Some people with very low vitamin B12 have a very sore mouth and tongue. It is also common to develop tinnitus or feel pins and needles/ tingling in your extremities. Low vitamin B12 can cause headaches, hormone problems, liver detoxification issues, immune imbalances, sleep issues, thyroid disregulation and so much more. |
Causes of deficiency
Lots of people are low in vitamin B12 for many reasons. Some people have absorption problems that prevent them from absorbing this nutrient from food and supplements in their digestive tract properly. Some people have had weight loss surgery that implicates the absorption in the intestines. Some people have a form of anaemia which prevents them from being able to use Vitamin B12. If you drink more alcohol than average your B12 levels will be lower than normal. Some medications prevent the absorption of B12 and if you are vegetarian or vegan, then maintaining enough B12 through your diet is not possible.
Is it safe?
Vitamin B12 is a very safe vitamin to take. Your body will only take what it needs and will excrete the rest in your urine.
I am an Advanced Phlebotomist, Nutritional Therapist and Associate Naturopath so you can ensure that your injection will be administered safely.
Like all substances, there is always a risk of side effects from the injection but these are very rare in occurrence. You will be made aware of these in your consultation.

Where do I have my injection?
Injections are available from the THRIVE clinic in Blidworth, near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
How often do I need to have an injection?
It depends on your need. Some people need monthly injections but usually the recommended dosage is between 6 weeks and 3 months.
How are injections different to supplements?
Supplements have to go through your digestive tract to be broken down and absorbed. Injections are delivered into a muscle that contains a rich blood supply. The injection makes it`s way directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive tract, making it a much more efficient way of utilising the vitamin.
